Movil technology is certainly the future of every day life and education. I seeked the list of free applictions in education through Google. I found exciting possibilities for Math and Science. Of my interest for Math were: Tanzen Lite(tanagrams) and Match Lite (Math Facts). Our school's I Pods have downloaded Match Lite and students have improved tremendously in their ability to perform basic math.
I am moving forward to download Number line which is an application for fractions, decimals and percentages. We will work those topics in the following weeks.
For Science the immediate application is the weather.
One thing is certain, we have to commit ourselves as teachers to see what is new and useful for our students.

Tool 9
The screencast could be used in different ways:
1. To select an image that you want to work with and enhance certain relevant characteristics that are tied to the lesson. Let the students use the info for a specific task. (Example: measuring perimeter)
2. Show students images of landscapes that may be unknown to them due to their lack of personal experience and opportunities. (Bays, canyons, mountains, etc.)
3. Select specific parts of a video that you might want them to watch so they can discuss the content.
4. I would limit video download because it takes to much time.
I used Skype in the past. It is a perfect example of how technology has delivered an alternate service. It could be used to create a giant district wide link to discuss a topic at all fourth grades at a specific time...For example. What were the benefits of the arrival of Columbus to America. It can also show students that internet phone is cheaper than traditional service.

Tool 11
There is little doubt that all the tools shown to use are useful. They need time and practice to be asimilated. I would have enjoyed the trainning more, if I didn't have to spend time trying to uncover some problems found through the use of the tools. It was time consuming and frustrating. It is my belief that support sessions would have clarified my doubts, allow better learning and reduce the frustration. The problem was that some sessions were scheduled when I was in another training or traveling. I hope that through the school year, we have the opportunity to train better on this tools. I am really interested in the possibility of using them, but have limited confidence of the possible outcomes.

Tool 8 Jing
It's a simple tool that allows students and teachers to work with images, graphs or video. It can be used to select a specific part of an image and enhance its details. Some students may use it to work on maps or projects where they need to show further details. Remember you can't use this toll with Y Tube. it is a very slow tool to save more than two minutes URL.

I really enjoyed working with Photo Story 3 for Windows. It requires that you plan, select and organize your work before creating the story. The program is not very friendly, but I finally created a story. The quality of my work was affected because I tried initially to use the existing computer mic, and had to much echoes. I don't have a microphone, so the story had to be limited to images and music...No Narrator!
Sorry guys if I dissapoint you on this one!

Tool 6
It is my understanding that Wikis are web pages in which the participants may add to the content that has been inserted in a template. I envision applications where students need to be creative (Writing) or where they have to follow a process (Science... The Water Cycle). It could also be useful to help students remember the events on a time line (Social Studies) or plan a party.
Tool 5
The idea of having on hand all my bookmarks is splendid. You don't have to worry about carrying your own computer. Ah! You can still have items private and others public to be shared. I started my work with Delicious just because I already have a Yahoo account. It is also updated when you have your Diigo account operational. I tried downloading the diigo toolbar, and after 3 attempts, I gave up. What I saw on the videos supports the concept that diigo is more robust, and practical for education just by allowing highlighting. I need to try again in another network to download diigo and have more exposure to it, but time is running out and I need to complet my task by August 11 th.
